The fund, which is supposed to protect apartment buyers, is also supposed to finance the internet portal
Since July 2022, the Developer Guarantee Fund has been in operation, which is to protect funds paid by buyers of apartments. Money from the fund can be paid out by buyers, among others, in the event of the developer's bankruptcy or failure to meet the deadline specified in the contract for transferring ownership of the premises. Contributions to this fund are paid by the developer, among others, for payments made by the client to the housing account.
– Since the act came into force, we have launched payments from the Fund (DFG) four times. All cases concerned withdrawal from the agreement due to the developer's delay in transferring ownership of the property to the buyer within the time specified in the development agreement. Delays ranged from three to five months, and the total amount of payments amounted to over PLN 2.2 million – Damian Ziąber, spokesman for the Insurance Guarantee Fund, which handles DFG, tells “Rzeczpospolita”.
