Resident: – I wanted to give the cat a home, but I was refused. The commune explains its decision

– The commune refused to let me adopt a pet or co-finance its maintenance, despite a recent resolution passed in this regard – complained one of the residents of Chołowice about the inconsistency of the local government. We checked whether the Homeless Animal Care Program adopted by the Krasiczyn commune is a dead letter or real help for a person interested in adopting a four-legged “homeless person”.
The local government of the Krasiczyn commune recently adopted the "Programme for the care of homeless animals and the prevention of animal homelessness", committing to its financing. Its aim is to reduce the phenomenon of animal homelessness and provide them with proper care. The content of the resolution adopted on March 10 includes, among others, a provision regarding the search for new owners for homeless animals, which is to be implemented, among others, by informing about the possibility of their adoption. In the event of finding someone willing to take the animal under its roof, the commune committed to co-financing the costs of maintaining it by paying the new owner a lump sum of PLN 500. Everything is to take place on the basis of the concluded agreement. Mrs. Magdalena Rakoczy from Chołowice wanted to use this form of support. However, she was refused.
[middle1]– Someone left me a cat. It was obvious that it had an owner, because it behaved like a domesticated animal. It was fawning, eager to enter the house. Our village has 9 numbers, so I decided to ask around the area about this animal. No one claimed it. I tried to find it a home online, posting ads, but no one came forward. So I contacted the commune, asking them to secure the cat, because it couldn't stay with me, and it was emaciated, worm-ridden and required care. I know that the commune has a signed agreement with a company from Przemyśl that deals with homeless animals. I have a few cats myself, all adopted, and I have never used the local government's help in their care. I provided everything for them out of my own pocket. In response, the commune told me not to feed the cat, and it would go away (!). After another reminder, two employees came and took it away. However, it came back after 5 days, so it definitely didn't end up in a shelter. Apparently it was put up for adoption.
– the woman reports. She wonders, however, how an animal that is not neutered, not vaccinated and not tested can be adopted...
