Over 30,000 PLN for a confessional. A parish in Poznań has launched an unusual fundraiser.

The Parish of St. Roch in Poznań has launched a fundraising campaign for a modern confessional. However, this won't be an ordinary place for confession – as the organizers emphasize, it will be a fully soundproofed structure that will ensure maximum comfort for both penitents and priests. The cost of such an investment is estimated at over 30,000 złoty, so the clergy have turned to the faithful for support.

Why does the parish need a new confessional?

As noted in the fundraiser description, more and more people are reporting a lack of complete discretion during confession. Standard confessionals don't always prevent conversations between penitent and priest from being overheard by other faithful in the church. A soundproof confessional is intended to address this problem and increase the sense of security among confessors.

"We see a great need to install another soundproof confessional in our church. This is an investment in dignified, safe, and comfortable conditions for the sacrament of confession—for both penitents and the priest," the parish wrote in its appeal.

Modern solutions and amenities

The new confessional will not only be fully soundproofed but also adapted to the needs of the elderly and the faithful with disabilities. The design will allow for confession while kneeling or sitting, facilitating access for all those wishing to receive the sacrament.

The clergy emphasize that the full construction of the confessional meets modern pastoral standards, while maintaining visibility and an appropriate distance between the priest and the penitent – ​​in accordance with the Church’s recommendations.

Investment cost and appeal for support

The parish has set a fundraising goal of over 30,000 złoty. Organizers emphasize that this amount exceeds the community's budget, so a public fundraising campaign was necessary. The campaign began on August 18th and will run until November 18th.

"The cost of such a confessional exceeds the parish's budget. Therefore, we sincerely ask you to support this initiative. Every donation, regardless of size, is a small contribution that brings us closer to realizing this necessary work," we read in the fundraiser description.
