Many changes in the Teachers' Charter. The government is preparing new rules for work, awards and payments
The method and deadline for paying some salary components will also change. Components that depend on work performed (e.g. overtime, replacements) will be paid in arrears – by the fifth day of the month following the month they apply to. Currently, in many schools, teachers have to wait much longer to settle payments for additional classes.
Sick leave before retirementThe Ministry of National Education is also planning a change regarding health leave. Currently, teachers who have already acquired the right to early retirement cannot use this type of leave, even if they do not intend to use it yet. After the amendment, teachers who are less than a year away from retirement will be able to go for treatment or rehabilitation in a spa.
Wider access to compensation benefitsFrom 1 January 2026, the group of teachers entitled to a compensatory benefit – a kind of “bridge pension” – will be expanded. The right to it will be granted to, among others, teachers from public and non-public educational and upbringing institutions, vocational training centres, artistic institutions, pedagogical libraries and colleges of social service workers. This group will also be joined by teachers working in correctional facilities and shelters for minors.

The government also announces significant changes to the jubilee award system. A new benefit will be introduced – a jubilee award for 45 years of work, amounting to 400% of a teacher's basic monthly salary. At the same time, the value of the award for 40 years of work will be increased – from the current 250 to 300%.
This is the first change in many years in the amount of so-called "jubilee bonuses", which are an important element of remuneration for teachers with long service.
