Good relations between Przemyśl and Paderborn have lasted for over 30 years.

Przemyśl signed a partnership agreement with the German city of Paderborn on May 14, 1993. During this time, many valuable initiatives, both cultural, educational, and economic, were successfully implemented. A specific and certainly valuable element of the partnership between the two cities was the regular exchange of school youth, allowing for broadening horizons and language learning. The driving force behind these friendly relations was Heidi Wernerus-Neumann, president and founder of the Society of Friends of Paderborn-Przemyśl, who was honored in 1997 with the title of Honorary Citizen of Przemyśl. In 2013, a street in Przemyśl was named after her. Przemyśl, as a symbol of the partnership, also celebrated the mutual ties by christening one of the city's roundabouts after the Padeborn Roundabout. And in early 2022, Padeborn reciprocated by naming a street in the city "Przemyśl-Weg." The cooperation between the two cities seems to be a lasting relationship, which – for now – nothing can shake. This mutual affection is demonstrated, among other things, by the alternating visits paid by their respective mayors. The most recent visit took place from July 25th to 27th. The Mayor of Przemyśl was invited to Paderborn to celebrate the Feast of Liborius – the patron saint of the partner city. Representatives of other partner cities of Paderborn, Germany, such as Le Mans, Debrecen, and Bolton, also attended. During the visit, among other things, a meeting with members of the German Society of Friends of Paderborn/Przemyśl took place. Members of the Przemyśl delegation also laid flowers at the grave of Heidi Wernerus-Neumann. Another important moment in the context of mutual good relations was Mayor Wojciech Bakun's entry in the Golden Book of Paderborn (Goldenes Buch), which took place in the company of Mayor Michael Dreier. An identical entry was also submitted on the same day by László Papp, the host of Debrecen, Hungary.
