Drama near Iława. Shouts came from the lake's surface
The drama unfolded on Wednesday, February 26. According to witnesses, after 4 p.m., screams were heard from the lake. However, after dark, it was difficult to see anyone in the water. The fire brigade was immediately called to the scene, including the Specialist Water and Diving Rescue Group from Iława.
Firefighters began searching and after more than an hour they managed to locate the man, who was floating in the water about 20 meters from the shore. The ice had broken in this place. The victim was unable to get out on his own.
According to "Radio Olsztyn", rescuers immediately pulled the man to shore and began resuscitation. Unfortunately, it was too late - the doctor pronounced him dead on the spot. According to initial findings, the victim was a fisherman who entered the ice unaware of how weakened its structure was.
