Cake for Szczecin's 80th birthday

Two lines, and each seemed to have no end. An unusual situation - for the Rose Garden of Art. However, it was most justified, by the invitation of the city president himself: for a traditional birthday cake on the occasion of the city's birthday. So, traditionally, i.e. sweet, the residents of Szczecin - on July 5 - celebrated a special anniversary: ​​the 80th anniversary of Polish Szczecin. There was no shortage of music and dances, as well as a sea of ​​attractions for the youngest.

Mrs. Alina was the first to taste the birthday cake. The line behind her started forming at 10:00.

- The invitation from Mayor Piotr Krzystek was of course the reason for going to Różanka. I have been living in Szczecin for a year, so this is my first birthday of the city. Although I have to admit that it was here that I graduated almost forty years ago: in mathematics - she said. - I wish Szczecin all the best. First of all, even pavements, because walking on these, especially with a grandson in a pram, is often a pain. In addition, pedestrians could do with better protection from cars that drive everywhere: taking over the space of other road users and threatening their safety.

Mrs. Alina hoped that there would be strawberries in Szczecin's birthday cake.

- It is always full of seasonal fruit, so this time, in addition to whipped cream, there will probably be strawberries - assured Regina Kolańska, second in line for the cake, who took part in the Różankowe tasting of the city's birthday for the tenth time. - I wish Szczecin an anniversary as beautiful as the current one, i.e. at least another 80 peaceful and healthy years. I hope that our city will develop as dynamically as it does now. Although I admit that I am also bothered by the uneven pavements. I wish Szczecin to once again be famous for its greenery, so we need to introduce much more trees and shrubs to the concreted squares.

The top three candidates waiting for Szczecin's birthday cake also included Jadwiga Jędrzejewska - a member of the Arkońskie-Niemierzyn Housing Estate Council and the Municipal Council of Seniors.

- I took the president's invitation to Różanka and the birthday cake very personally. And I am, because you don't say no to the president - she said. - It's a very beautiful ceremony and very important to all of us - the people of Szczecin. I am glad that the current government is developing Szczecin for good. All these investments... We really can and should be proud of our city. I hope that along with the big issues, the more prosaic ones will also be solved, such as the aforementioned sidewalks, where - with seniors in mind - more benches and more accessible toilets could be installed.

The division of two cakes for the "Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Polish Szczecin" - weighing almost 160 kg in total - was started by President Piotr Krzystek. On the other hand, both "Szczecinianie" and the Good Vibration Quartet performed on stage. While some were enjoying creamy and fruity sweets, others - together with their children - were enjoying the interactive games and entertainment zone. As is usual at birthday parties - there was a dance party at the end. ©℗
