Attention! There are new IMWM warnings! Thick fog and freezing precipitation in as many as 13 provinces
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued first-degree warnings on Monday afternoon regarding dense fog and freezing precipitation. The warnings apply to 13 provinces in Poland, including Pomerania, Kuyavia-Pomerania and Łódź. Freezing precipitation is expected in the foothill regions, which may lead to black ice. The alerts will remain in effect until Tuesday morning.
Dense fog warnings apply to the Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Łódź, Opole, Silesian, Lesser Poland and Świętokrzyskie provinces. Additionally, almost the entire Warmian-Masurian, Masovian and Lublin provinces, as well as the eastern part of Greater Poland, are under alert. In the Lower Silesia province, warnings apply to the Oleśnica, Milicz, Kłodzko, Karkonosze counties and Jelenia Góra. In the Subcarpathian province, warnings apply to the Nisko, Stalowowolski, Tarnobrzeg, Kolbuszowa, Mielec counties and Tarnobrzeg.
In areas covered by warnings, visibility may drop below 200 meters. IMGW reports that the probability of these phenomena occurring is 80 percent. The warnings will be in effect until 10:00 on Tuesday. The Institute recommends caution and following weather situation developments.
Freezing precipitation in foothill areasIMGW has also issued first-degree warnings against freezing rain in the foothill regions. They apply to the Bieszczady, Lesko, Sanok, Brzozów, Krosno, Strzyżów, Jasło and Krosno counties in the Podkarpackie province and the Gorlice county in the Małopolska province. Light freezing rain or drizzle is forecast, which may lead to the formation of black ice.
The probability of freezing precipitation is also 80%, and the warnings will be in force until 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the latest. IMGW emphasizes that a first-degree warning means the possibility of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and a threat to health and life. It is recommended to exercise caution and follow current weather reports.
