Italy and Portugal record first draw at European Championship
Italy and Portugal's women's footballers drew 1-1 at the European Championships, the first draw of the tournament in Switzerland.
Both teams still have a chance of reaching the quarterfinals. Italy came into Group B on 4 points, Portugal on 1 point. Spain, who beat Belgium 6-2, are already through to the knockout stage with 6 points.
Italy had the most chances in a packed stadium in Geneva, but they were unable to score for a long time. Cecilia Salvai headed the ball onto the crossbar and Emma Severini's goal was disallowed for offside. Captain Cristiana Girelli had success in the 70th minute with a beautiful shot from behind the penalty line.
