German Denz best of the escapees in Giro's eighteenth stage

Cyclist Nico Denz has won the eighteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia. The German from Red Bull Bora-hansgrohe arrived solo after 144 kilometres between Morbegno and Cesano Maderno after he had escaped from a group of escapees. The peloton with all the classification riders was riding at a big disadvantage.
For the 31-year-old Denz it is the third stage win in the Giro. He won two stages in the 2023 Giro d'Italia and gave his team its first stage win in this Giro d'Italia.
The riders will face two more tough mountain stages in the Giro before the race ends on Sunday in the Italian capital Rome.
