A new computing center for AI. Kogeneracja and Wrocław University of Science and Technology have signed a letter of intent.

- A joint venture between ZEW Kogeneracja and the Wrocław University of Science and Technology concerns the creation of a modern computing center for artificial intelligence purposes.
- The proposed technical solutions will enable the effective use of waste heat.
- The planned investment will include the construction of a cooling system and a system for collecting and utilizing generated waste heat.
The Wrocław Power Plants Group Kogeneracja, part of the PGE capital group, and the Wrocław University of Science and Technology have signed a letter of intent regarding cooperation in the implementation of the "Baltic AI Gigafactory" (BAIG) project.
This strategic project aims to create a modern computing center for artificial intelligence in Wrocław.
The Wrocław university is applying for a BAIG project , which includes the construction of AI infrastructure. The planned investment includes, among other things, the installation of a cooling system and the collection and management of generated waste heat.
A modern computing center will be built in WrocławKogeneracja, as a company that plays a key role in providing heat supplies to the residents of the Wrocław agglomeration, has many years of experience in the production, collection, transmission and management of thermal energy.
This makes it a natural partner for Wrocław University of Science and Technology in implementing this type of important, innovative projects.
"The Baltic AI Gigafactory project is a crucial undertaking for Poland's technological and energy development. As a combined heat and power producer and district heating supplier for Wrocław, we possess both the infrastructure and expertise to connect the worlds of energy and modern technologies. Collaborating with Wrocław University of Science and Technology is a natural step towards green technologies and efficient energy use in future projects," says Dariusz Witkowski, CEO of Kogeneracja.
The Baltic AI Gigafactory project involves the creation of two independent Trier III+ class data centers with a total computing power capable of supporting AI and GPU clusters.
The infrastructure is to be powered in a safe and flexible manner, with the possibility of waste heat recovery and guaranteed power for key systems.
The computing center will be equipped with the most modern devicesThe planned centres will be equipped with state-of-the-art high-temperature cooling and energy efficiency solutions, in line with European ISO standards and the Energy Efficiency Directive.
The main shareholders of ZEW Kogeneracja are PGE Energia Ciepła (58.07%) and OFE PZU "Złota Jesień" (8.03%). The company's shares have been listed on the stock exchange since May 2000.
