Cycling buddy

My son (13) is annoyed that his cycling buddy is always late at the meeting point where they cycle to school. "He texts that he'll be there in two minutes, but after 10 minutes he's still not there, so I have to cycle to school really fast." To stimulate his problem-solving skills, I ask him what needs to be done to make sure this doesn't happen again. After a few seconds of deep thought, he knows: "An electric bike!"
