Turnout for the 2025 parliamentary elections was slightly lower than two years ago. According to Ipsos I&O, 76.3 percent of eligible voters voted, compared to 77.7 percent in 2023 and 78.7 percent in 2021. Turnout remains high, but the downward trend continues.

Schiermonnikoog was the first to submit its provisional results, nine minutes faster than in 2023. GroenLinks-PvdA remained the largest party with 21.6 percent, but lost 4 points. D66 rose sharply to 20.5 percent. Turnout was 131 percent, thanks to the inclusion of tourists in the voting system.

On Vlieland, D66 became the largest party with 21 percent; GroenLinks-PvdA dropped to 17.4 percent. Turnout there was also remarkably high: 112 percent.

In Nederweert, the PVV remained the largest party (24.3 percent), followed by the CDA (17 percent) and the VVD (16.2 percent). In Boekel, the PVV also led with almost 22 percent. Geert Wilders' party remains firmly established locally. In Ouder-Amstel, D66 won with almost a quarter of the vote, while GroenLinks-PvdA and VVD were neck and neck. In Doesburg, the PVV secured 19.2 percent.

Turnout varied greatly by city. Rotterdam lagged behind with 63.3 percent, slightly lower than in 2023. In Amsterdam, it remained stable at 70.8 percent, while Utrecht saw an increase to 81.1 percent. The municipality joked on X that gingerbread nuts, cheerful volunteers, and a beautiful city may have helped.

More results will follow later in the night. Only late at night will it become clear who can truly call itself the largest party in the Netherlands. The exit poll was too close to call .
