It's Black Saturday on European roads to holiday destinations, and that also means Dutch holidaymakers will be stuck in traffic jams, reports the ANWB.
On France's Route du Soleil, drivers should expect delays of 2.5 hours between Lyon and Orange. Anyone turning towards the Spanish border can add another 2.5 hours to that delay.
In Austria, the Tauern route from Salzburg to Villach is extremely busy. Traffic is particularly congested on the first section, resulting in two-hour delays. For the Gotthard Tunnel in Switzerland, the wait time is now an hour and a half southbound. The Mont Blanc Tunnel, which connects France to Italy, is causing a seventy-minute delay.
Traffic on roads in Germany is not too badAccording to the ANWB (Royal Dutch Touring Club), traffic congestion in Germany is actually quite manageable. There are numerous roadworks there, but they only add half an hour to your travel time. Only between Hannover and Hamburg is there more serious congestion, where drivers should expect an extra hour.
15 minutes of brisk walking every day? It really does help you live longer.
