Karol G brought her rhythm and voice to the Vatican's monumental St. Peter's Square on Saturday night, in an unusual concert with other artists dedicated to human fraternity that lit up the Roman sky with drones that took the form of works of art from Christianity and even the late Pope Francis.
The artist, along with stars such as Andrea Bocelli, Pharrell Williams, and John Legend , was the most prominent figure at this event, which closes the third edition of the World Meeting on Human Fraternity, held in Rome the day before.
The recital had the imposing Basilica of St. Peter as a backdrop for thousands of people who packed the Vatican Square , while a drone show illuminated the sky with shapes such as the hands of God and Adam in Michelangelo's frescoes in the Sistine Chapel or the smiling face of Francis.

The audience's outpouring of affection for her was palpable: flags, T-shirts, and symbols not only from her country but also from across Latin America... many had come to see the Colombian star in particular.
"It's a beautiful event, but we really came to see Karol G," Peruvian Liz told EFE, celebrating that the singer was participating "representing Latin America." Many others came to hear Bocelli, who was responsible not only for opening the concert with his 'Ave Maria', appropriate given the sacred place, but also for organizing it, with the collaboration of platforms such as 'Disney+' and 'Hulu', which broadcast it.

Earlier, the artist had urged attendees to turn on their cell phone flashlights, illuminating the entire plaza, and stated that it was "an opportunity to unite," as he feels that not "enough is being done" in today's world.
Williams also introduced John Legend, whom she described as a "legend" and who excited audiences by singing "Glory" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" on the piano. Other notable appearances included Beninese singer Angélique Kidjo, who brought the tropical rhythms of "Life Is a Carnival" by Cuban legend Celia Cruz to Vatican Square, and Jennifer Hudson, who sang "The Prayer" with Bocelli.

However, as expected, and dashing the expectations of many who had hoped to see him, the American pontiff did not attend the concert.
In his name, Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, archpriest of the Vatican Basilica, opened the ceremony. At the foot of the church, he reiterated his "no to war" and his "yes to peace and fraternity," the moral motive, at least, for this already memorable concert in Vatican Square. It wasn't all music and dancing; Bernini's colonnade also echoed the voices of Indian activist Kailash Satyarthi, 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner, and Mozambican Graça Machel, widow of Nelson Mandela.

" We must commit ourselves to bringing a just peace to all the places where violence has stripped us of our humanity , and at this global gathering for human fraternity, we affirm with one voice that justice must be the ultimate guardian of reconciliation," he exclaimed.EFE
