This holiday, August 7th , as part of the 28th Bogotá Summer Festival , which will run throughout the month, the traditional bike lane will be held. Bicycles are restricted to bicycles on various main and secondary roads throughout the city. However, this year, this activity will have a unique twist.
Since the bike path is part of the entire festival program and the city is seeking to break a Guinness record, it will be open for 17 continuous hours: from 7:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

" This August 7th, we will not only celebrate our national history, but also the present and future of an active, healthy, and sustainable Bogotá. The Ciclovía is one of the city's greatest assets, and as it celebrates its 50th anniversary, we now want to take it to the next level with an unforgettable day ," said Daniel García Cañón, director of the District Institute of Recreation and Sport (IDRD) .

In total, Bogota residents will be able to enjoy a total of 98.4 kilometers of trail , divided into 11 designated routes, which will also include exercise, movement, and recreation stations for people of all ages.
Closures and enabled areasFor the proper development of the bike lane, vehicular traffic in Bogotá will remain closed throughout the day . It's worth mentioning that, unlike previous years, when the event took place on August 6 (the city's anniversary), the event was moved to this holiday, with the goal of " avoiding traffic accidents on a weekday and turning the national holiday into a civic bicycle celebration ," according to the IDRD. The organization also urged citizens to plan their travel plans for this event, taking into account road closures, and planning alternate routes for their commutes.
