Relief on the Barça Atlètic bench

Changes in the bench of FC Barcelona's reserve team. The club announced that the current coordinator of 11-a-side football in the club's lower categories, Sergi Milà, will be the new coach of Barça Atlètic, replacing Albert Sánchez, who will rejoin the club's technical structure.
This decision is motivated by the poor results of the Barça reserve team, which is currently in the relegation zone. Barça Atlètic is in the penultimate position in the Primera RFEF, the third tier of Spanish football. Relegation to Segunda RFEF is a scenario that club sources acknowledge the club cannot afford given the reserve team's role in providing the first team with young talent.
The decision, which had been in the works for weeks, was taken when the team lost this weekend against Arenteiro, going on its eighth consecutive match without a win. The record is four defeats and four draws, a series of negative matches very similar to the one the reserve team had in the first round with two defeats and seven draws.
The margin given to Sánchez was motivated above all by the fact that those responsible for the youth team are aware that this year the reserve team has been left without players such as Pau Víctor, top scorer in the Primera RFEF last year, Héctor Fort, Pau Cubarsí or Marc Casadó, all in the first team.
He is also without Pau Prim. The club is not allowing him to play due to his refusal to renew his youth contract, which ends in June. He will go to Al Sadd in Qatar.
Sánchez, who took over in the summer after two seasons as assistant coach to Mexican Rafa Márquez and who was also assistant to Òscar López in the Under-19s, had no experience as a head coach. He will now be replaced by Milà, who has more than twenty years of experience in different youth categories at the club. He will make his debut this weekend at Nàstic de Tarragona.
