New York. The New York Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years and easily ended the Boston Celtics' one-year reign in the NBA, winning 119-81 in Game 6 of the series.
Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby led the Knicks with 23 points each to avoid a Game 7 at TD Garden in Boston.
Their next opponent will be the Indiana Pacers, a team they curiously faced in their last appearance in the conference finals in 2000. The first game will be Wednesday night in New York.
The Knicks hadn't won a playoff series on their home court since the 1999 Eastern Conference Finals. So the celebration of their thousands of fans ended several hours after beating the Celtics outside Madison Square Garden.
Mikal Bridges scored 22 points and Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 for the Knicks, whose 38-point margin of victory was their largest in a playoff game.
Jaylen Brown responded with 20 points for the Celtics, who lost leading scorer Jayson Tatum to a torn Achilles tendon in Game 4.
Despite this, coach Joe Mazulla's team was confident they had enough to return to the contest and force a seventh game. It soon became clear that this was nearly impossible.
Al Horford, one of the Celtics' most important offensive linchpins, finished with just 10 points and two rebounds, the latter being his specialty on the court.
Jrue Holiday, meanwhile, was also unable to help on offense, finishing his performance with four points and three assists. Thus, the NBA will have a new champion.

New York., With a standout performance from Carlos Rodón, who won his fourth consecutive decision, the Yankees defeated the Mets 6-2 in Juan Soto's return to Yankee Stadium.
Soto, who left the New York Yankees for a record $765 million contract to join the Mets, was booed by his former team's fans, who stood up to express their disapproval when he batted in the first inning.
The Dominican baseball player responded by waving to the stands, taking off his helmet and placing it over his heart. He only managed to collect three walks, one ground ball, and one fly ball.
