Atlas debuts in the Leagues Cup with a defeat against Messi's Inter Miami

Atlas began its participation in the Leagues Cup with a painful 2-1 defeat to Inter Miami , in a duel marked by the heat, the humidity of Chase Stadium and, above all, by the genius of Lionel Messi , who signed two assists, including one in the last gasp of the match, which had its share of controversy, due to an alleged offside in the goal.
Gonzalo Pineda's team showed attitude and effort, showing no fear against Inter's star players, but it wasn't enough to stop the home side's offensive power. The Red and Black squad paid dearly for their defensive errors , in addition to wasting several opportunities in front of goal.
Tadeo Segovia opened the scoring for Florida in the 57th minute, taking advantage of a surgical pass from the Argentine star. Atlas responded strongly and equalized thanks to a precise shot from Rivaldo Lozano in the 80th minute, following a collective play that ignited hope.
However, just when it seemed the tie was final, Messi emerged again, his class intact. The Argentine slipped a precise ball to Marcelo Weigandt , who finished in the 96th minute to give Inter all three points, but not before a VAR review, leaving the Guadalajara side empty-handed.
The end of the match was heated. After the final whistle, the benches emptied and there was shoving between players from both teams . Fortunately, the situation didn't escalate.
With this loss, Atlas is forced to add points in its next match if it wants to advance in the binational tournament . Its next match will be this Saturday against Orlando City at Exploria Stadium, in what promises to be another tough challenge for the Foxes.
Atlas will need to adjust quickly, improve his shooting, and focus more on defense if he wants to keep his Leagues Cup hopes alive.
