Trump fires his National Security Advisor and his deputy

The trigger was reportedly the inclusion of a journalist in a Signal chat where sensitive information about the attack on the Houthi rebels was revealed.
US President Donald Trump plans to fire his National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, and his deputy, Alex Wong, US media reported, according to which the dismissal will take place this Thursday.
The trigger may have been the scandal dubbed 'Signalgate', which came to light after Waltz apparently mistakenly included The Atlantic magazine's editor-in-chief , Jeffrey Goldberg , in a Signal chat room where, for four days, several cabinet members chatted about preparations for a military strike in Yemen on March 15.
In that chat , Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ended up revealing sensitive information, including targets, deployed military assets, and, two hours in advance, the schedule of an attack on Houthi rebels , which could have endangered U.S. military personnel.
Waltz himself acknowledged the mistake when the case came to light: "I take full responsibility. I created the group. It's shameful. We're going to get to the bottom of this," he said on Fox News.
But according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) , Trump and senior executives were unhappy with him even before that controversy.
The WSJ noted that he hired advisers who, according to his critics, were not convincing to Trump's more radical base, the so-called MAGA , a reference to the acronym for his slogan "Make America Great Again."
Furthermore, his stances on Ukraine and Iran sometimes clashed with those of other executive officials, which were more harsh.
Senior administration officials say Waltz had already been sidelined from key negotiations , including the search for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, and although he was scheduled to join Trump in Michigan last Tuesday at the event commemorating the first 100 days of his second term, he ultimately did not attend.
"Waltz is the first. He certainly won't be the last," said House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Thursday, after the American press reported the news.
