Sumar will challenge the government for the first time through Compromís

Sumar will address an oral question to the government it belongs to for the first time in this Wednesday's oversight session. It will do so through Compromís MP Alberto Ibáñez, who will question the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, to assess the development of the tourist season.
Ibáñez has been prominent within the confederal group for promoting measures to mitigate the effects of mass tourism on local commerce, pollution, and rising housing costs. His profile, however, has gained visibility following the internal division suffered by Compromís.
Ibáñez's partner in Compromís, Àgueda Micó, left the group to join the mixtape. The interpellation takes on added significance as it is the first time a Socialist minister has been asked by a representative of Compromís, who remains a member of Sumar, after his fellow party member, Àgueda Micó, left the group to join the joint committee. Micó then denounced obstacles to his independent practice in matters not directly linked to the Valencian Community.
Yolanda Díaz's parliamentary group maintained at the time that this autonomy was guaranteed and offered various ways to retain it, but negotiations failed and led to the split. Unlike Micó, Ibáñez, a member of Iniciativa, chose to remain in Sumar, respecting the closed alliance for the June 23 general elections.

Since then, the MP has strengthened his public presence, frequently participating in press conferences following the Spokespersons' Meeting and taking on a prominent role as deputy spokesperson for Sumar. He will also serve on the commission of inquiry into the Dana epidemic in the Valencian Community, where he has demanded that Congress access the recordings from the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi) for October 29, the day on which 228 people died.
