Sheinbaum confirms Marco Rubio's visit to Mexico in September

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed this Monday that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will most likely visit Mexico in the first week of September. The main objective of this visit is to sign a bilateral security agreement, which has been pending for months.
During her morning press conference, Sheinbaum explained that the exact date will be confirmed in the coming days, but she also stated that the intention is to consolidate the security cooperation agreements that strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
Rubio's visit follows U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem's visit to Mexico. The president emphasized that these meetings are part of a broader effort to strengthen security and international cooperation, as well as to boost investment and trade between Mexico and the United States.
"He will most likely come not this week, but rather the first of September. This week will be confirmed," Sheinbaum commented, making it clear that the visit seeks to strengthen bilateral collaboration and regional security.
In addition to the meeting with Rubio, President Sheinbaum announced that Brazil's Secretaries of State, Trade, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, Planning, and Budget will meet on August 27 and 28.
A delegation of 150 Brazilian business leaders will also participate in meetings to explore bilateral trade and investment opportunities, highlighting the economic complementarity between the two countries.
"This is a very important meeting for strengthening our economies, investments, and trade in various areas," Sheinbaum said.
The agreement to be signed with Marco Rubio aims to strengthen border security, prevent transnational crimes, and strengthen intelligence cooperation. This marks a significant step in the relationship between Mexico and the United States, demonstrating a mutual commitment to regional security and economic investment.
Although Rubio's visit has not yet been finalized, the meeting and the signing of the agreement are expected to be formalized in the first week of September. This event is key to strengthening diplomatic and economic trust between the two countries and could open up new opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.
