Sheinbaum arrives at her first state of the country with 70% public approval, according to a survey.

Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo kicks off her First State of the Nation address with a remarkable 70% approval rating, according to the latest national housing survey by Buendía & Márquez, published by El Universal. This percentage reflects a stable acceptance rate, just 4 points below the 74% rating recorded during her first month in office.
The president faces a backdrop of solid support among her supporters and moderate criticism from the opposition, marking a balanced approval rating during her first year in office.
The survey reveals that Sheinbaum's support is concentrated primarily among Morena supporters, reaching 90% approval. In contrast, among members of opposition parties such as the PAN and PRI, support drops to 51%.
This difference shows that, while the Morena supporter base remains strong, the president's opinions vary more widely among opponents and independents.
Nationally, 57% of citizens believe Mexico is on a good or very good path, compared to 31% who perceive a negative trend. However, when analyzing state perceptions, only 46% believe their state is progressing well, while 42% indicate the opposite.
Regarding the evolution since Sheinbaum assumed the presidency:
- 42% believe that Mexico is better off
- 19% consider that it remains the same
- 23% see it as equally bad
- 13% perceive a worsening
Overall, 61% perceive positive improvement or stability, compared to 36% who see a decline.
Among the most highly rated aspects, social programs lead with 47%, followed by international relations, especially with the United States (7%), and “staying the course” (4%).
In contrast, the main problems identified are:
- Security and drug trafficking: 15%
- Economy: 8%
- Corruption: 3%
- Health problems and medications: 3%
Data shows that security remains the most pressing challenge for Mexicans.
Citizens have clear priorities for Sheinbaum's speech:
- Insecurity and crime: 39%
- Economy: 8%
- Corruption: 4%
This confirms that, although social support is high, there is a clear demand for tangible results in security and the economy.
Unlike several of her predecessors, Claudia Sheinbaum has maintained a stable approval rating during her first year, sustained primarily by Morena's membership and the perception that the country is moving in the right direction.
With 70% support, the president arrives at her First State of the Union address in a strong position, albeit with significant challenges in security and the economy, the issues of greatest concern to Mexicans.
