Russian Foreign Minister arrives at the National Palace to meet with Abinader

At around 2:51 p.m., Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived at the National Palace to hold a meeting with President Luis Abinader .

Lavrov arrived accompanied by his official delegation and Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez.

The meeting will take place in the Private Room of the President of the Republic.

This meeting is part of the agenda of the first official visit of a Russian foreign minister to the Dominican Republic, to mark the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Earlier, Lavrov met with Foreign Minister Álvarez at the Foreign Ministry, where they discussed opportunities for cooperation in economic, tourism, and educational matters.

Among the points discussed was the shared interest in resuming direct flights between Russia and the Dominican Republic, as well as facilitating immigration mechanisms for tourists.

The creation of a working group to expand trade cooperation and the symbolic opening of the Russian embassy in Santo Domingo were also discussed.
