Page advocates bringing forward the general elections so that national politics doesn't once again drag down the PSOE in the territories.

The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, stated this Wednesday that "it cannot happen again" that national politics "drags down" the PSOE in the regions, and therefore advocated for early elections.
"What I find is a multitude of local and regional officials, in a stifled cry, hoping that the general elections won't affect the municipal and regional elections, and if that means the Spanish people's verdict on national policy will come first, I think the vast majority would prefer that," he stated during an interview on '65ymás'.
Asked whether he sees himself as the solution and whether he could succeed Pedro Sánchez in the PSOE, the president of Castilla-La Mancha stated that the fact that mayors and regional presidents consider him to be "an exception" is "simply an example" and "doesn't make any further sense."
He pointed out that in the last regional elections, the regional PSOE increased its votes and percentage, and that, even so, "due to María Dolores de Cospedal's electoral legislation, we could have even lost the government." "Which means that each region has its own balance and electoral legislation," he added.
However, he did point out that there is "an evident pattern" and that it was the rejection of national politics that "led to the loss of town councils, provincial councils, and, above all, autonomous regions" to the PSOE in the last elections.
"That's the truth," he stated, adding that there are "people with a lot of power in Spain" today whom he has yet to see "recognize a single error," which, he asserted, "is unhealthy." Therefore, he suggested that this is a time "to take responsibility for the entire PSOE."
Thus, he stated that the PP may be hurt by Spain, but he is "hurt" by both Spain and the PSOE. "Therefore, I have a dual personal objective within the limited scope of my role, which is to preserve the substance of what has always been the project—that of the PSOE—that has always been recognizable and identifiable by the vast majority of Spaniards."
