Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez held a bilateral meeting with his counterpart from the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Frederick Mitchell, in which they discussed investment and trade opportunities between the two countries and promoting tourism between them .

According to a press release, at the meeting held during Foreign Minister Mitchell's private visit to the country, the Bahamian representative expressed his government's interest in accessing more affordable markets for the import of agricultural products and other goods, noting that the Dominican Republic represents a strategic opportunity for this demand.

For his part, Foreign Minister Álvarez highlighted the importance of the 10th Summit of the Americas, which will be held in the country later this year, as a platform to attract investment and promote regional development.

He also emphasized that the Summit will bring together the CEOs of the hemisphere's most important companies in the Business Forum and will be a space to expand their countries ' markets.

Connectivity and sustainable tourism

In addition to the trade aspect, the foreign ministers and their respective delegations discussed initiatives to promote the following areas:

  • Sustainable tourism
  • Facilitate air and maritime connectivity in the Caribbean

They also discussed the possibility of promoting training and technical capacity building programs aimed at young people in both countries .
