Edgardo Kueider stated that his return to Argentina would take him straight to the Ezeiza prison: "I have no guarantees."

Former Senator Edgardo Kueider was arrested on December 4th while attempting to enter Paraguay with undeclared US$200,000 . Since then, he has remained under house arrest and claims he didn't return to Argentina because his destiny was prison. "If I go back, I'm going straight to Ezeiza prison ," he asserted.
"I didn't want to stay in Paraguay. I want to see my children again. I could have returned that same night, but they put me under house arrest because I'm Argentine. I was never formally detained," Kueider explained in an interview with Canal 9 Litoral.
The former legislator pleaded not guilty and questioned the progress of the case. "I strictly respect the law. But if I return, I have to go to jail because the judge wants to show I don't know what. It's unfair," he said, referring to Judge Sandra Arroyo Salgado .
Edgardo Kueider denied that the seized money is related to the so-called Securitas case , which investigates alleged bribes in private security contracts in Entre Ríos. "They're fabricating a connection to money laundering. There's no evidence. It's all an absurd construction," he stated.
“The case is far-fetched. They want to create a bigger case to justify pretrial detention,” he said. He added: “There is a clear intention to cause harm. The judge didn't investigate or verify anything. She just moved forward with what she had.”
Regarding the origin of the money, the former senator said it wasn't his and that it came from operations carried out in Paraguay. "I regret every minute of agreeing to transfer it. But that doesn't excuse everything that happened later," he explained.
Edgardo Kueider also took aim at the media coverage of the case. “From that day on, the media constructed a damning image. They made things up. Society has already sentenced me without a trial,” he asserted. He concluded: “This destroyed me. I want to return to Argentina to see my children. But if I have to go to jail to satisfy a whim, I will.”
