A resounding victory for the radical Zdero and the libertarians in Chaco: they beat Capitanich's Peronism by 12 points.

The Radical governor of Chaco, Leandro Zdero , won a resounding victory in the provincial legislative elections, in alliance with La Libertad Avanza. He prevailed by more than ten points over the Peronist faction, which had Jorge Capitanich leading the list of candidates for local deputies.

Chaco was the only district in the country where a governor from the former Juntos por el Cambio party closed a deal with the Mileísmo party to compete in a legislative election that took place normally, but with low turnout : although the final data were known at the time of this edition, just over 50% voted.

Zdero's victory, beyond his partnership with the Libertarians, confirms the hegemony that Radicalism is beginning to build in the province, which returned to power in 2023 after 20 consecutive years of Peronist victories. "We had a great election, which demonstrates the will of the people of Chaco," the governor said.

The so-called "List Z" of the Chaco Puede + La Libertad Avanza Front , which Zdero formed with the libertarians, was headed by Julio Ferro, followed by Susana Maggio.

They won easily, surpassing 45% of the vote and winning by more than 11 points over Capitanich's Chaco Puede Más, which last night had barely passed 33%. "We're seeing a trend in favor of the ruling party," "Coqui" acknowledged early on.

Capitanich had attempted to bring all of Peronism under his leadership, but he failed. He closed the deal with former governor Domingo Peppo's group and the coalition led by former Resistencia mayor Gustavo Martínez.

Magdalena Ayala, mayor of Barranqueras, appeared on the outside with her Primero Chaco front , headed by Atlanto Honcheruk, which finished third with 11%. In Barranqueras, for example, she won by more than three points over Zdero's front.

Capitanich's collapse was especially noticeable in Resistencia, the provincial capital , where the former governor was also mayor. There, Zdero and the Libertarians doubled "Coqui's" vote, surpassing 53% against an opponent who barely hovered at 27%. There, Primero Chaco finished with just over 8%.

As in other districts, more libertarian lists appeared. The two-party alliance that allowed Javier Milei to add national representative Carlos García in 2023 split from the LLA and is running as "Bases for Liberty." They garnered almost 3%.

Chaco's election generated the most interest from the Rosada (Citizens' Party) before the Buenos Aires elections , due to its alliance with the local government and the only one that could have given them a boost on the first Super Sunday election. The confirmation of the Libertarian victory in Salta Capital added a reason for laughter for the Millenium party, although it was in Chaco where they ultimately won resoundingly, allied with a Radical governor.

"As in Salta, in Chaco we were able to reach an agreement and put together a competitive front," said those close to Santiago Caputo , highlighting the differences with respect to electoral performances in other provinces such as Santa Fe, when the strategy was led by Eduardo "Lule" Menem, a rival in the internal elections of the Millennium Party.
