She runs over a young man in Mallorca after mistaking him for her ex-partner's boyfriend and admits the crime

A 34-year-old man was sentenced this Tuesday, February 25, in the Palma Court for running over a young man who was riding a motorcycle after mistaking him for his ex-partner's boyfriend. The accused has admitted the crime and has accepted a three-year prison sentence, according to information published by Última Hora .
The events took place at around 10:00 p.m. on April 2, 2024 in the town of Llucmajor, in Mallorca. That day, the now convicted man was driving his car through the Mallorcan town in search of his ex-partner's new boyfriend "with the intention of ending her life," according to the prosecution's statement.
The man believed that the suspect worked as a delivery man at a restaurant called Tropical. For this reason, when he came across a young man riding a motorbike from this establishment, he began to follow him. The motorcyclist, who was riding a motorbike, was heading to Avenida de Ramón de Sant Martí to deliver an order, where he parked and delivered the food.
The damage caused The victim suffered trauma to the left shoulder and several skin wounds.The defendant, who had stopped behind the motorcycle in a double-park, waited for the delivery man to return. The victim thought that the defendant wanted to leave the place in the car, so he made gestures to let him pass. But the driver of the car made a sign for him to go ahead.
The delivery man then entered the road. It was at that moment that the defendant accelerated and hit the motorcyclist “with the sole purpose of ending his life and in an absolutely surprising manner,” according to the prosecution.
The victim fell onto the bonnet and then onto the asphalt, and the driver accelerated again to run over the victim, who managed to move away before receiving the second blow. The wheel of the vehicle did hit him in the head, but the helmet saved him from serious injuries.

On Tuesday, the man pleaded guilty to attempted murder and accepted a three-year prison sentence. He also paid 10,000 euros to the victim for the injuries suffered and 1,000 for the damage to the motorcycle. He will have to pay a further 4,269 euros to the injured party.
“I want to take this opportunity to apologize, it is the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life. I was not going through a good time because of alcohol and cocaine abuse, my head was not working as it should. The only thing I can say is that I am sorry and that I want to get my life back on track and enter into a detoxification project,” the guilty party declared in court.
