Ricardo Monreal warns of internal disputes within Morena over reforms and upcoming candidacies.

MEXICO CITY (apro).- Ricardo Monreal, coordinator of the Morena party in the Chamber of Deputies, warned that with the reforms proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, such as the nepotism reform and the non-reelection reform, there is an "unsolvable internal dispute" within the ruling party.
In a message on his social media this weekend, the Morena legislator emphasized that there is also an early fight for state, mayoral, and deputy candidacies, and therefore called on the Morena party to unite and cohesively.
"A stage that, in the face of the reforms that have already been presented and approved, such as the non-reelection and the electoral nepotism reform, which, despite being implemented in 2030, in the case of Morena, decided to implement them starting in 2027. It is a very important stage, of insurmountable internal dispute, in which, due to Morena's strength and majority representation, it will be the party that will suffer the most difficulties in keeping it aside.
"They are already entering the early fight to become candidates for governor, for reelection as federal deputies, or for the election of mayors, council members, trustees, and councilors. This will be a very important stage in which Morena needs cohesion and unity," he emphasized.
Ricardo Monreal affirmed that since the first parties in Mexico's history, there have been internal fractures and disqualifications, so he called for political maturity, discipline, and organization. "Morena cannot fall into that struggle and into that internal narrative of disqualification and internal viability; it would be suicidal."
Support Pablo GómezRicardo Monreal, Morena's coordinator in San Lázaro, endorsed Pablo Gómez, whom President Claudia Sheinbaum appointed as head of the Presidential Commission for Electoral Reform, which the ruling party proposes to discuss and approve during the next regular session.
"The legislative majority welcomes with great hope the appointment of Pablo Gómez as chair of this proposal, of this commission, which will conduct the analysis and likely draft the final document that will be presented to the Congress of the Union," he stated.
