SALTILLO, Coah., (apro) .- A Japanese citizen was arrested for the alleged crime of corruption of minors and statutory rape, the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) reported in a statement, after a 17-year-old girl was rescued, who was kept locked for two days in a hotel room.

The minor was taken to a hospital for evaluation because she was showing symptoms of poisoning.

The arrest was made by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Women and Children in the municipality of Saltillo on July 14. "The probable crimes she faces are corruption of minors, with a sentence of 2 to 4 years; as well as statutory rape, with a sentence of 7 months to 5 years," the statement said.

Although the investigation is ongoing, it has been established that no charges of unlawful deprivation of liberty or human trafficking have been filed so far.

"Since the investigation shows that at no time did he detain her by force, based on this, there is no crime of human trafficking or deprivation of liberty, however, the investigation file is still being compiled," the agency stated.

The Special Prosecutor's Office received a report that the minor was with the foreigner, so they conducted investigations to locate him and found him in a hotel in the capital city of Coahuila.
