Drone attack in Tierra Caliente region leaves one farmer dead and another injured

MORELIA, Mich. (apro).- A minor laborer died and an adult was injured as a result of the explosion of a drone-launched device in the Tierra Caliente region, on the border of Michoacán and Jalisco, while two other farm workers suffered injuries — one of them requiring a leg amputation — from the explosion of an explosive mine, confirmed the Human Security Observatory of the Apatzingán Region (OSHRA).
According to the organization, the minor was identified as Jesús Macario Jiménez, 15, who was wounded on Saturday along with another colleague while working in a papaya orchard in the town of Tazumbos, Jalisco, and died while being transported by van to the hospital in the municipality of Buenavista Tomatlán, in the state of Michoacán.
That same Saturday, a lemon cutter named David C., 66, and Adolfo Michel M., 21, were injured by an explosive mine in an orchard in Buenavista and were taken to the IMSS Bienestar hospital for treatment.
David C., originally from the municipality of Periban, had his right lower limb disarticulated from the knee down.
According to unofficial sources, the deceased minor and his companion were victims of a drone launched by criminal groups engaged in an armed confrontation in the region where they worked.
To transport them to the hospital, local residents had to wait for the fighting to subside, but the teenager died on the way, so his body was taken aboard the same vehicle to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Buenavista Tomatlán.
