The last session of the current SCJN's integration begins

It was a solemn public session, the last, which lasted less than five minutes.
"Consequently, this Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation declares the second session of the current year open, thank you very much. Please take your seats," stated Norma Piña Hernández.
Thus, the president of the country's highest constitutional court began work on what will also be the final session of the full court, with a panel of 11 justices, which had been in place since 1997 as a result of the judicial reform promoted by former President Ernesto Zedillo. Ten of these justices remain following the departure of Luis María Aguilar Morales last November, after completing 15 years in office.
Loretta Ortiz Ahlf, one of the three justices who will remain in office after September 1st, when the new Court, composed of nine justices, will begin its functions. They were elected by popular vote on June 1st in the first-ever election of justices, magistrates, and judges at the federal level and in 19 of the country's 32 states. The remaining 13 will elect local judges in 2027.
Yasmín Esquivel Mossa and Lenia Batres Guadarrama will also continue in office, the former for a total term of 17 years and the latter for 15 years and nine months.
Of the ministers present at the solemn public session, Norma Piña, Alfredo Gutiérrez Ortiz Mena, Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá, Jorge Pardo Rebolledo, Ana Margarita Ríos Farjat, Javier Laznez Potisek, and Alberto Pérez Dayán will conclude their duties on the last day of the current month.

"Minister Javier Laynez Potisek will read the report on the activities of the Recess Committee for the First Session of 2025," President Piña instructed, and the minister who served on the committee began reading the document.
"For these purposes, a single record was drawn up regarding the matters dealt with during the recess period; in addition, the daily reports and the overall report from the Office of Judicial Certification and Correspondence of this High Court were received and added to the record," he stated.
He stated precisely that a total of 274 files were created, of which 267 were sent to the Undersecretariat General for Agreements, all related to amparo lawsuits, and seven to the Section for the Processing of Constitutional Disputes and Actions of Unconstitutionality.
“A total of 1,359 motions were received, corresponding to: 91 for the First Chamber; 28 for the Second Chamber; 1,045 for the Undersecretariat General for Agreements; and 192 for the Section for the Processing of Constitutional Disputes and Actions of Unconstitutionality. Pursuant to Articles 56 and 58 of the Regulations, the Recess Commission issued a ruling and signed five agreements.”
The session started at 11 a.m., 46 minutes and 17 seconds in, and ended with 12 seconds remaining, totaling five minutes.
