China will form a group of experts to structure railway projects in Colombia.

During a business meeting organized by the Ministry of Transportation, the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), and the Colombian-Chinese Business Association on Friday, August 22, the Government of the People's Republic of China confirmed that it will create a group of experts to advise the ANI on structuring railway projects in Colombia.

The objective of the group of experts will be to support the structuring of the main priority corridors, including Buenaventura-Palmira, Yumbo-Caimalito, Villavicencio-Puerto Gaitán, and the Central Corridor.
" It's a group that will advise ANI on technological issues, design, financing, investments, construction, equipment, and operation of prioritized railway projects ," said Zhu Jingyang, China's ambassador to Colombia.

The reason for creating the group of experts responds to a request made by ANI president Oscar Torres Yarzagaray during his recent visit to China. During that trip, the Colombian organization explained, " agreements were reached to promote the development of the Colombian railway system ."
“ Within the ANI, we are seeking support in technology transfer, knowledge transfer, and learning curves in these areas where they are at the international forefront. They are the leading force in the structuring of three high-speed rail lines, and this support is vital to being able to deliver for the country, ” said Torres Yarzagaray.

It should be remembered that the six railway projects that the National Government has prioritized for further structuring are:

- Interoceanic Corridor.
- Pacific OP (Yumbo-Caimalito).
- Pacific Corridor (Buenaventura-Palmira.
- Villavicencio-Puerto Gaitán.
- Connection between the Bogotá Region and the central railway corridor.
- Bogotá-Belencito Corridor.
These projects require an investment of more than 94 billion pesos in Capex.
