Ximena Sariñana returns to dubbing with 'The Smurfs'

"The Smurfs," the tiny blue creatures who have earned an undeniable place in children's lives over the decades, return to Mexico's big screen with a new adventure that will leave all family members filled with laughter, togetherness, adventure—and also a certain amount of drama.

Directed by Chris Miller , known for titles such as "Shrek the Third" and "Puss in Boots," this new installment of "The Smurfs" offers a more modern and musical version of the classic blue characters. The story centers on "Smurfette," who is forced to lead a dangerous mission after "Papa Smurf" is kidnapped by the fearsome wizard brothers, "Gargamel" and "Razamel."

This adventure takes " Smurfette ," " Nameless Smurf ," and other members of the village out of the enchanted forest and across dimensions , including an unexpected visit to the real world. The narrative addresses themes such as identity, teamwork, diversity, and the courage to assume leadership, all wrapped in an atmosphere of humor, color, and original music. With a fresh aesthetic and nostalgic touches, the film seeks to captivate both new viewers and those who grew up with the characters.

But something that stands out in Latin American dubbing is the presence of singer Ximena Sariñana , in her triumphant return to the world of dubbing, with a character that promises to become unforgettable among fans of this universe: "Moxie", the Smurf. "I am very happy to be dubbing a movie again, because I think it is an extremely fun profession," Sariñana commented in an interview. "I loved the character of "Moxie", because she is a very determined, very strong, very feisty "Smurf". She doesn't mince her words, I really liked her character, I thought it was super appropriate."

Although she loved the character and found it fun to bring her to life, Sariñana commented that, in real life, her personality bears no resemblance to this warrior, determined, and somewhat stubborn " Smurf ." The singer also said that she never watched "The Smurfs" as a child. However, she is surprised that, after so many decades, it continues to hold a special place among children of all ages.

"Moxie" and I are polar opposites. We have nothing in common. Moxie is very disciplined, and that doesn't fit my personality at all. Even though I wasn't a Smurf, I'm impressed by their ability to renew themselves and continue to be a role model for children," the singer said.
