In recent years, global temperatures have risen, prompting both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Meteorological Organization to issue warnings for people who work outdoors. What was the official statement?
According to information published and disseminated by AFP to various international media outlets, the agencies warned of the negative health impacts of extreme high temperatures on these workers. "Action is needed now to address the increasingly serious effects of heat overload on workers around the world," they stated, referring to the conditions they are experiencing. They also reiterated the dangers to which workers in the company may be exposed due to the reduction in productivity of these personnel. Regarding this aspect, Ko Barrett told the aforementioned agency that this issue has become a social challenge and is not limited to certain countries due to what was recorded during the last heat wave in Europe.
“Protecting workers from extreme heat is not only a health imperative, but an economic necessity,” he noted.
The truth is that the consequences of working under these conditions are quite regrettable, resulting in at least 22.85 million accidents each year and at least 19,000 deaths.
