Night of Ideas: Six free, must-see activities to discover today's thinkers

Sponsored by Ñ , the Night of Ideas 2025 arrives in Argentina with a program that invites interdisciplinary thought, debate , and creativity. Under the motto "The Power to Act," this event will take place from May 14 to 20 in seven cities, including Buenos Aires. In the capital, activities will take place on May 16 and 17 at the Centro de Experimentación and the Salón Dorado of the Teatro Colón , with free admission .
The event will focus on three themes : new geopolitical balances in a changing world, forms of contemporary engagement driven by youth and civil societies, and the capacity to act and decide in the face of current challenges. These themes, articulated through panels, debates, and performances, seek not only to analyze current problems but also to imagine possible solutions from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The list of international participants includes prominent figures from diverse disciplines . Spanish political scientist Jaime Aragón Falomir will be participating, contributing his expertise in global power dynamics and international cooperation. Also participating will be French-Chilean writer Miguel Bonnefoy , renowned for works such as Octavio's Journey , who will analyze the relationship between literature and cultural identity.
In the field of science and art, Jean Marc Chomaz , physicist and artist, will present an approach that connects scientific research with innovative artistic expression. Meanwhile, French activist Marjolaine David will address strategies to address social inequality and the environmental crisis, while Belgian philosopher Pierre Dardot will reflect on the potential of collective action in times of uncertainty.

In the field of science and art, Jean Marc Chomaz , a physicist-artist and research director at the CNRS, will be present. On the other hand, French activist Marjolaine David , who researches contemporary transfeminist artistic activism, the circulation of political art forms, and community archiving practices, while Belgian philosopher Pierre Dardot, a professor and philosopher specializing in the work of Hegel and Marx, will be present.
Also participating will be Laurent De Sutter, the Belgian philosopher and author of some thirty books that have been translated into fifteen languages, and sociologist Lila Le Trividic Harrache , who specializes in education, youth, vulnerability, and public action.
Also featured are the French-Argentine photojournalist Anita Pouchard-Serra , a documentary photographer trained as a ballet dancer, architect and anthropologist, and the artist Leïla Ka , an acclaimed French choreographer who is performing in Buenos Aires for the first time.
A special mention must go to Christophe Ventura , research director of the Institute of International Relations and Strategies (IRIS), who has built a deep and unique understanding of Latin American civil society (social movements, unions, NGOs, political parties, academic circles, among others) and the institutional actors in the countries of the region.

On Friday, May 16, at 3:30 p.m. , a panel discussion will focus on the challenges of information in times of fake news.
This event, aimed at young audiences, will be hosted by students from the UNSAM Master's program in "Media, Discourse, and Politics" and will feature French-Argentine photojournalist Anita Pouchard-Serra, communicator Giancarlo Summa, and disinformation specialist Olivia Sohr.
At 7:00 p.m. on the same day, also at the CETC , the inaugural conference will be held. This panel will feature the French Ambassador to Argentina, Romain Nadal, and prominent guests such as philosopher Pierre Dardot, sociologist Paola Tubaro, and philosopher Laurent de Sutter.
Together, they will reflect on how to address current crises and protect fundamental values such as human rights, solidarity, and freedom.
At 8:15 p.m., in the Golden Room , a panel discussion will analyze how job insecurity affects young people in the context of the "uberization" of work.
Participating will be specialists such as the director of socio-urban integration, María Migliore, sociologist Gabriel Kessler, anthropologist Pablo Semán, economist Paola Tubaro, and researcher Julieta Longo.

On Saturday, May 17 , at 2:00 PM, at the CETC, the ethical and social challenges posed by artificial intelligence will be discussed. The panel, comprised of sociologist Paola Tubaro and researcher Flavia Costa, will explore how these technologies can transform our lives and the complex decisions they entail.
At 3:30 p.m., in the Golden Room , one of the greatest contemporary challenges will be addressed: the unequal distribution of resources and food security.
Moderated by economist Priscila Ramos, the panel will feature specialists David Laborde and Gabriela Parodi, who will analyze how to rethink the current agri-food model.
The event will conclude at 6:30 p.m. in the Golden Room with a reflection by Belgian philosopher Laurent de Sutter. This lecture will explore how widespread indignation and hatred shape our times and how these feelings impact our collective actions.
