Maradona case: A doctor from Olivos blamed Luque and Cosachov for the "Ten's" discharge.

This Tuesday, Fernando Villarejo, head of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Olivos Clinic, testified in the Maradona Case trial. Villarejo held neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov responsible for Diego Armando Maradona's transfer to the residence in the San Andrés gated community in the Buenos Aires town of Benavídez.

Villarejo considered that "something else should be done" after the star underwent surgery for the subdural hematoma, according to a report by Agencia Noticias Argentinas, citing judicial sources.

"Maradona suffered withdrawal symptoms postoperatively , and I recommended against sedating him, but Luque opted otherwise. Diego was sedated for 24 hours, and the dose was gradually reduced until he was discharged," Villarejo stated during his testimony at the Third Criminal Court (TOC) of San Isidro.

In this context, the doctor explained that the former Boca Juniors and Argentina national team player "had to continue treatment at another rehabilitation center." Villarejo added: "He was a very special patient, and it was difficult to control him. We did what he wanted."

He also expressed his "regret" for treating Maradona because "they made many concessions" during his stay at the Olivos Clinic , such as "visits during the coronavirus quarantine with restrictions that were not followed" by the hospital.
