Controversy in the Maradona trial: a judge accused of promoting a documentary on the case

In the Third Criminal Court of San Isidro there were rumors about an alleged documentary about the trial for the death of Diego Maradona , and one of the ideologues would be Judge Julieta Makintach , who regretted being accused: "It hurts me a lot," she said.

Julio Rivas , one of neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque 's defenders, spoke with the Argentine News Agency and highlighted that there would be negotiations with the British news network BBC for the production of an audiovisual project based on the investigation of the case.

In this context, he revealed that Makintach, one of the members of the court, would be linked to said documentary since her brother, Juan Makintach , works at the production company Pegsa as general executive director alongside Agustín Pichot, former Los Pumas player, president and creator.

Fernando Burlando , lawyer for Dalma and Gianinna Maradona, filed a complaint in this regard, according to a source in the case who spoke to this newspaper. He stated that "two people entered the room without completing the necessary procedures," and emphasized that "a police officer has already given a statement."

Makintach, meanwhile, expressed his anger at the accusation: "It hurts me a lot."

Furthermore, the judge was challenged by Rivas , who considered her to be "inquisitive" when asking questions.

The lawyer explained that the judge conducted interrogations with a "condemnatory bias."

"The last thing I want is to delay the trial. We all want the truth to be revealed," the lawyer admitted, but acknowledged that Makintach was not acting impartially.

However, Rivas's request, which was accepted only by psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov's lawyer, Vadim Mischanchuk , was dismissed "for lack of grounds."

Another legal issue that arose during Thursday's hearing related to Makintach's assumption of the presidency of the debate.

In this case, Rivas explained that the judges deliberate every year to decide who will lead each court: "In May 2024, Verónica Di Tomasso was the president, and then Savarino took over. They always rotated the position, but this Tuesday the 14th, Makintach was appointed, coming from another court."

Most of the parties accepted the legal counsel's complaint, and the judge was removed from the direction of the proceedings.
