Users report issues with virtual parking app in Torreón.

The app for paying for virtual parking meters in Torreón has undergone updates, resulting in issues that users have reported to businesses and to this newspaper's editorial team.
When conducting the exercise to verify what citizens reported, it was observed that the application has changed its design, which could be due to updates made to improve the service. However, when completing the payment with a credit card, it remains stuck for several minutes, requiring it to be closed and the process started again, with the same result.
Another complaint received by this media outlet is that the application does not have a database where the re-plating can be updated, since this year in Coahuila there was a change in vehicle license plates, but it is necessary to delete the previously registered plate and register the new one. Otherwise, the owner would be paying for a plate that is no longer valid and is not the one their vehicle carries, for which they will be subject to a fine.
The Municipality of Torreón announced that more orientation modules and payment receivers for virtual parking meters will be installed this month, in response to the ongoing confusion among some users and in response to a request from the National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) to strengthen the operation of this system, which has been operating in the city's first district since last year.
The revenue from this concept remains at 800,000 to 900,000 pesos per month.
Starting in July 2024, virtual parking meters began operating in downtown Torreón. Parking is charged in the designated area, even if there are no physical meters for depositing coins. The price is 6 pesos per hour. Citizens can download the app on their mobile phones, and businesses also offer payment for the service for those who require assistance. The perimeter extends from Allende Avenue to Presidente Carranza Street and from Valdez Carrillo Street to Calzada Colón.
There are approximately 3,000 parking spaces available in this new system. Users can pay through the mobile app, using a prepaid system by purchasing credit at Oxxo stores, or at authorized businesses, of which there are approximately 100.
By installing more infrastructure, the Municipality seeks to make the measure more widely known among the population, as businesses have received complaints from users who find it difficult to pay for parking spaces, despite the various payment methods available.
