SEP confirms one more long weekend before the end of the 2024-2025 school year: this is the exact date

The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) confirmed a new long weekend that will allow students and families to enjoy one last break before the official end of the 2024-2025 school year. This news surprised thousands of parents and students in elementary and high school, as it was thought there would be no more days of school suspension.

This final long weekend will be an opportunity for students to recharge their batteries as the school year officially concludes this July.

The SEP announced that Friday, July 11, will be the day of suspension for preschool, elementary, and middle school students, as well as for high school, preparatory, and upper secondary students in public and private schools incorporated into the national education system.

This Friday will mark the last long weekend of the 2024-2025 school year, so classes will resume on Monday, July 14, when the final activities to close out the academic year will begin.

According to the SEP, the reason for the long weekend is not a civic holiday or an official holiday, but rather that teaching staff must record final grades in the official records of each educational institution.

On this day, teachers will focus exclusively on recording grades for exams and final projects, an essential process for preparing student report cards and certificates.

For this reason, academic activities are suspended to allow faculty to properly perform this administrative work and comply with the closing of the 2024-2025 school year.

The SEP reiterated that it is essential that students do not miss classes in the final weeks of the school year , as the following are being carried out:

• Final exams of key subjects.
• Submission of final projects and assignments.
• Closing activities of the course.
• Assessments that will determine the final grades.

These days are crucial to successfully completing the school year and ensuring advancement to the next grade.

Last Friday, June 27, was the most recent date on which classes were suspended in SEP schools due to the traditional meeting of the Technical School Council (CTE) , an academic gathering held on the last Friday of each month for teachers to analyze and improve educational processes.

At the meeting, topics related to achievements, challenges, and proposals for improving academic performance were reviewed, as well as strategies for closing out the school year.

The SEP recommended that parents and guardians consult the official school calendar and stay informed of any announcements through their schools' communication channels and the Secretariat's official platforms.

He also reminded everyone that any changes or extraordinary suspensions of activities will be promptly announced through official communications to avoid confusion.

This long weekend on July 11th represents the last opportunity of the 2024-2025 school year for families to enjoy a long weekend, while the teaching staff formally closes administrative activities with the registration of grades.
