At the press conference, he recalled that the arrest of Salvador “N” occurred just a few hours after the discovery of Elizabeth's lifeless body was reported to the police authorities.
According to Fernández Montañez, all police forces and law enforcement agencies were involved in the search for Salvador “N” , including federal authorities such as the National Guard and municipal and state security corporations.
“ Based on the complaints and testimonies gathered, we had to believe that he could be the probable person responsible for this femicide. Once the cordon was established, the probable person responsible was located and arrested. The person no longer had any options to escape due to the operation ,” he said.
Regarding the fact that the woman had reported her aggressor a month ago for the crime of violence , alleging that she had been raped by him, the Attorney General said that after that complaint, a restriction protocol was established in a home in the Bellavista neighborhood; however, the events occurred in a home where this measure did not exist, in the González neighborhood.
“ This happened, among other things, because of a connection between the two people. The protection measure was in force at the time of these events; however, the measures follow a protocol and apply to a particular address. The events occurred at a different address and we have no record of notification of a change of address.”
"I do not mean to say that the measure has not fully fulfilled its purpose, but that there are issues that we have to improve so that these measures are effective when addresses change, even if there is no notification of the victim ," he said.
Regarding the detainee, who will be brought before a control judge on Thursday, the Prosecutor said that, if found guilty, the agents of the Public Ministry investigating the case will request the maximum sentence.
