Roberto Orci, Star Trek writer, has died

Roberto Orci , the man responsible for resurrecting Star Trek , Transformers and Fringe on film , died at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday due to kidney disease .
Mexican by birth , Orci made a name for himself and a reputation in Hollywood since the early 2009s, when he brought back the Star Trek franchise alongside JJ Abrams and Alex Kurtzman , also teamed with Michael Bay on Transformers , Hawaii Five-O , and was part of the scriptwriters for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 .

The news went viral on social media on Wednesday when her manager shared it with media outlets such as Variety and The Hollywood Reporter , among others.
“He was a visionary storyteller with a boundless heart and a beautiful soul. But beyond his creative talents, he was a compassionate friend who would put his life on hold to help a stranger and find a place in his home for the shelter’s most forgotten pup,” his brother JR shared in a statement.
A Fox Entertainment rep also said the company, which worked with Orci on Fringe and Sleepy Hollow , “is saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague,” and that Orci “was an incredibly talented creator, writer and executive producer.”
It all began when Orci , along with her parents, moved to the United States at the age of 10. There she grew up between Texas, California and occasionally Canada, and at 17 she entered the private school in Santa Monica, Crossroads, where she met filmmaker Alex Kurtzman with whom she shared cinematic preferences such as a liking for Steven Soderberg and his film Sex, Lies and Videotape.
He began as a writer and producer on Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and for most of his career worked alongside Kurtzman.
Orci's film credits also include writing work on Mission: Impossible III and The Legend of Zorro and producing the Now You See Me franchise, The Proposal, Eagle Eye, The Mummy and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , with Andrew Garfield behind the friendly neighborhood New Yorker.
CHARGED IN 2024 FOR ASSAULTING HIS WIFEIn August 2024, Orci was accused of beating and sexually assaulting his wife , Hail, Caesar! actress Adele Heather Taylor .
In the lawsuit, she alleged that Orci was a bipolar alcoholic who frequently had violent outbursts against her.
Taylor's reaction to a lawsuit filed by Orci in June, in which he alleged that she had repeatedly assaulted him and, during his struggle with alcoholism, manipulated him for financial gain.
Orci spokeswoman Sallie Hofmeister said at the time :
Ms. Taylor’s countersuit is an attempt to retaliate against her husband with fabricated allegations after he obtained a restraining order against her, filed for divorce and sued her in June for assault, battery and economic abuse when he was vulnerable and trying to get treatment for alcoholism.”
According to the IMDB portal, he only had the script for Lotería in progress, for Netflix .
