Mercadona announces new opening hours for all its supermarkets starting September 1.

After the summer months, Mercadona is preparing to return to its routine with a significant adjustment to its schedule. This measure comes after several months of providing special services for the season.
Since the end of June, the supermarket chain has strengthened its services in some areas of the country, especially in coastal towns with high tourist traffic, with Sunday openings and later closing times to meet increased consumer demand.
Where were Mercadona's opening hours extended for the summer?Various establishments located in communities with high tourist influxes such as Andalusia, the Valencian Community, Catalonia, the Canary Islands, Murcia, Galicia, and the Balearic Islands have kept their doors open until 10:00 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.
Meanwhile, approximately 300 stores in these areas have offered reduced Sunday hours between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. This was established to meet high demand while still ensuring staff rest.
This isn't a change that has surprised consumers, as Mercadona routinely changes its hours during peak seasons, often accompanied by the hiring of additional staff.
Back to normal scheduleStarting Monday, September 1, Mercadona will end its extended summer hours and return to normal operations in all its supermarkets.
This means that stores will close at 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Similarly, the Valencian chain has announced that it will not be open on Sundays and holidays in order to provide its employees with breaks.
Since the change will be applied across the board, if you'd like to confirm the exact hours of your nearest store, you can do so through their website or mobile app, where you'll find an updated search engine for each of their 1,602 locations.
