“I felt like I was crucified, and then someone took me to Mazatlán, and they gave me this miraculous dish that brought me back to life,” Gibson explained moments after showing the world the title of his new project: The Resurrection .
The film promises to explore the events following the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, including a key scene in which the Messiah is offered a heavenly aguachile that brings him out of the tomb where he had been placed.
“I’m ready to return to the earthly world… I wish there were a birria open in Gethsemane,” the newly resurrected Christ would say.

Theologians consulted have expressed conflicting opinions regarding the film's plot. While some consider it a culturally enriching interpretation, others maintain that there is sufficient archaeological evidence to affirm that Jesus could not eat chili peppers, making the aguachile scene historically inaccurate.
The film's release is scheduled for 2026 and is already eagerly awaited by both Catholic believers and local seafood restaurants, who plan to advertise: "Here we sell aguachile just the way our Lord likes it."
