Justice is keeping an eye on Javier Milei's meetings with businessmen from the crypto world

The Justice Department is advancing its investigation into the cryptocurrency $LIBRA and is focusing on the meetings that President Javier Milei and other government officials held with businessmen linked to the development of the token. Prosecutor Eduardo Taiano , in charge of the investigation of the case, requested new measures to clarify the degree of participation of various actors in the events under investigation.

According to judicial sources explained to TN , Taiano requested to compare the information from the Unique Registry of Audiences for the Management of Interests of the Ministry of the Interior . All official meetings of cabinet officials must be registered on that portal. The objective is to identify the meetings that Milei or members of the Executive have held with Mauricio Gaspar Novelli , Manuel Terrones Godoy , Sergio Daniel Morales , Julian Peh and Hayden Mark Davis .

Novelli is under scrutiny for organizing the Tech Forum last October, where Milei met with several of those involved in the case. Godoy is Novelli 's partner in this venture. For his part, Peh provided the structure for the launch of $LIBRA , whose owner is Davis . The courts are trying to determine the content of these meetings and whether any concrete agreements were reached.

Taiano 's request states that the results obtained must be recorded to clarify the reasons for the meetings. The instruction focuses on determining the circumstances surrounding the creation and launch of $LIBRA . To do so, it seeks to obtain information on the registration date, the IP address of creation and the ownership of the web domain linked to the cryptocurrency.

The prosecutor suspects that the events could be classified as crimes such as abuse of authority, fraud, influence peddling and bribery. In addition, Taiano called in a team specialising in cybercrime to further investigate.

In parallel, the Anti-Corruption Office (OA) began an investigation to determine whether Milei violated the Public Ethics Law . In this regard, the agency will also focus on the meetings that the President held with businessmen from the crypto sector.

The case is moving forward with the request for various reports from public and private bodies. Among them, the Central Bank , the National Securities Commission (CNV) , the General Inspection of Justice (IGJ) and the company Google . The Justice seeks to access key information about the creation and operation of the cryptocurrency in question.

So far, 112 complaints have been filed against Javier Milei , most of them filed in the court of María Servini . The first accusation was promoted by the national deputy Claudio Lozano and the Observatory of the Law of the City . Under this framework, the Justice is evaluating new evidence measures to clarify the facts and determine possible responsibilities.
