IMSS will launch new ambulances; there will be a thousand units nationwide

The general director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) , Zoé Robledo , gave the green light to 110 ambulances for scheduled transfers , which marks the beginning of the implementation of a thousand new units nationwide, whose delivery will conclude on April 30.

Accompanied by Mexico City's head of government, Clara Brugada , and the capital's Health Secretary, Nadine Gasman, the official indicated that the new ambulances are added to the more than 200 that are available as backup.

He explained that they will be distributed in the 35 Social Security offices throughout the country , in 25 High Specialty Medical Units (UMAE), a vacation center, and in 10 ambulance modules in the Valley of Mexico.

These particular ambulances that will be launched today and will be heading out to the entire country are ambulances for scheduled transfers, that is, they are the ambulances that, as Clara Brugada said, represent life and a lot of hope.

"Because it is the patient who is leaving home, it is the patient who is being transferred to a unit. Sometimes it is the organ that is being moved for a transplant," he said.

Robledo Aburto added that the IMSS does not contract any ambulance service because it has a complete team to operate all its units, which are in charge of 2,800 operators, with extensive experience and constant training.

With this delivery we also thank the IMSS Technical Council because it authorized the hiring of these ambulances with a complete service that includes, of course, the vehicles, the spare parts, the repairs, but always with something that we support, we do not hire the ambulance service. Why? Because we have 2,800 ambulance operators, he indicated.

It should be noted that the 110 ambulances that left the IMSS headquarters in Mexico City will be used to provide service to beneficiaries in four states.
