Xabi Alonso announces his farewell to Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid awaits him

Xabi Alonso has announced that he will leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season. "These two games (against Borussia Dortmund and Mainz, ed.) will be my last as Bayer coach," said the 43-year-old Spanish coach, who will leave a year before his contract expires.

Bayer's first Bundesliga

At the helm of the 'Aspirin' since October 2022, last year Xabi Alonso led Bayer to the conquest of the first Bundesliga in the club's history (remaining unbeaten throughout the championship), won the German Cup and reached the final of the Europa League where they surrendered to Atalanta.

Future at Real Madrid

Xabi Alonso will almost certainly lead Real Madrid next season, taking over from Carlo Ancelotti who is set to become Brazil coach.
