World Athletics Championships: Nadia Battocletti takes silver in the 10,000 meters. Fabbri takes bronze in the shot put.

Nadia Battocletti won silver in the 10,000 meters at the World Athletics Championships underway in Tokyo. The Italian athlete ran a time of 30:38.23, setting a new Italian record. Kenyan Beatrice Chebet took gold.
“I'm living a dream. I've understood the athlete I am, and consequently, all my staff and family. I'm still in disbelief at the race I managed to complete,” Nadia Battocletti said to Rai, praising her silver medal in the 10,000 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. “It was a tough race,” the Italian athlete explained. “They knew they couldn't take me to the finish line,” and they pushed hard, but “dad told me: ‘They'll test you hard, but remember that it will be tough for them too.’ I feel like I'm living a dream. I thank everyone. I wanted to change the tears I had in Budapest; they're still tears, but this time they're tears of joy.” “I still have to understand what I've done. I used to watch the athletes who made it to the Olympics and won medals from down here, now I'm among them,” she concluded. “On Thursday there are the 5,000 meters, so I'm focused.”
Italy's second medal in Tokyo arrives in a matter of minutes. After Battocletti's silver in the 10,000m, Lorenzo Fabbri took bronze in the shot put. At the last World Championships in Budapest in 2023, he took silver (22.34), beaten only by American Ryan Crouser, who also took gold today with a throw of 22.34. Muñoz took silver with a final throw of 21.97, taking second place with his final throw, while Fabbri himself finished third with 21.94.
