The Captains' Race is coming to Cutigliano

Cutigliano, 6 July 2025 – The 19th edition of the “Corsa dei Capitani” will be held in Cutigliano on Sunday 13 July, valid this year as the Uisp Regional Mountain Running Championship and Provincial Championship of the same specialty. The race draws inspiration from the historic Palazzo dei Capitani, built in 1377 to host the official sent by Florence with the task of administering the Pistoia mountains, known precisely as the Captain of the Mountain. The route starts from the heart of Cutigliano and leads runners to the highest peak: La Cuccola, at 1,040 meters above sea level. From there, the route winds in a continuous up and down through enchanting fir forests. The competitive race measures 14.3 km, while for walkers there is a reduced route of 6 km. The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Cutigliano, with the technical collaboration of the ASD Silvano Fedi Pistoia and the patronage of the Municipality of Abetone-Cutigliano.
